I think that Galactica already had a great educational impact on hordes of Americans stuck in anglosaxonia from 16-th century.
Masses are learning about Greek mythology and another universe of Gods and values, as opposed to a jolly Mr Smith's Universe of a Great Everlasting Anglosaxonia.
Just the fact that some other religion, even if romanticized and adapted for mass consumption, is getting time on American TV, is a sign that creative and sales interests among Holywood produces can open this backward militant country to the world of human race.

how will it end?!
Probly with Galactica finding earth under heavy cylon fire, some big super ships with USAF and the star spangled banner on the side will appear from nowhere and annhialate the cylons. The Americans, not content with saving the world again, but the 12 colonies and the universe instead, will take all the credit as usual, watermarked flagwaving and ending with the words God Bless America, so say we all!

Battlestar season 4
Can't wait for season four to begin but in Oz we will have to wait for ever. Season three was great, a bit upset about it ending though
